DD & Teenage Boys-- Oh My!

So now that my DD is almost 15, boys have entered the picture whether I want them to or not. Everywhere we go it seems that there are teenage boys and young men flirting, smiling and trying to chat it up. Just last night as we were leaving In & Out Burger a young man who was dining with his baseball team, smiled and waved his cell phone at her in an attempt to get her number.
What is a mother to do? Am I ready for this? It feels like just yesterday I was putting her hair into pigtails, so she could immediatly rip out. It is hard to beleive that she will be 15 soon. Soon she will start dating , start driving within a year and before I know it, she will be leaving for college. How do other mother's deal with the "oh my baby is growing up"?

Camping???

Last weekend my family went camping. As a kid we would go and all I remember is how cold it was and how away from civilation it seemed to be. I also seem to remember a smelly outhouse. So, camping to me isn't all that thrilling, but I know my DH and my DS love it. I prefer KOA campgrounds, they at least have clean restrooms, hot showers and a pool. So Sunday morning after being there two nights, I lay on my cot thinking of the pros and cons to camping.

PRO: Start with these first, trying to be positive...
fresh air
family time
swimming pool
excuse to each junk food
getting kids away from phones, tv and computers
beautiful redwoods
smores

CONS:
Mosquitios- my blood must be like liquor to them- they just couldn't get enough
sleeping on a cot
dirt
cooking on small stove
noisy campers
having to walk to the retroom at 3:00 AM
roosters at 4:00 AM
sunrise at 5:30
hot, hot, hot
public restrooms
cold during the night
flies
have to pitch all the tents in the hard, hard ground
washing dishes at a spicket in cold water
instant coffee

Are you seeing where I'm going with this? It seems that the cons out weigh the pros, but yet we go camping anyway. For some reason even my DD has decided she likes camping. For a 14 year old girl to like it, and to like it so much that she wants to have her 15th birthday party be a weekend of camping, I just must be missing something here.

I did manage to bring home several souvineers- I have a least 8 mosquito bites that itch like crazy. So, help me out what am I missing here.

Time to Blog Again...

OK- now that summer is here and I seem to have some free time, I 've come to the realization that I need to update my page. I've spent the morning cruzing other blogs and had such a good laugh from a few that I thought I'd share my favorite entry from 15 Minute Lunch. If you lived through the fashions in the late 70's, then you will appreciate this. WARNING!!! tissue for the laughing tears may be necessary.

Scrappin My Days Away in Bodgea Bay

I've just returned from a 2.5 day drop in Bodega Bay. It was a Treat of Retreats. It was so great not to have to cook, clean or do dishes for a whole weekend. The food was superb, the crop space was great- a whole 5 ft. table to myself and everyone there was super friendly. I especially loved the little gifts left for us each day. It just made the retreat even more special. We played the pirate game. I got a really cute 7x7 CM album (CM=Creative Memories). The view was great and the hot tub was so relaxing. I went with 2 of my long-time scrapping buddies, Karen and Debbie. On Saturday, Karen and I took a walk down to wear The Scrappery's retreat was. They were croppin' away. Thanks to Brenda, who gave us a ride back up the hill, we were able to avoid the big hail and rain storm that hit.
Now that I'm home, my life as a pampered scrapper has come to a halt. It is back to the weekend grind, only, there is no laundry to do-because there is no soap-LOL

Marching through March

Matrch just seems to be flying by. Spring is in the air... YEAH! I love this time of year. Everything is starting to bloom, the days are longer and warmer. Soon, I'll be able to kick the socks and shoes off and revert to my favorite sandals. Tomorrow I have a pedicure scheduled. My poor feet have seen nothing but thick, warm, fuzzy socks and my favoirte Uggs slippers. As soon as the weather permits, the Uggs clog slipper will be traded in for my new flip-flop slipper-They were a Christmas gift from my favorite SIL.
So my question to all of you is... what do you look forward to most when Spring has sprung?

My First Gathering

Saturday was my first CTMH gathering. I was the hostess and the presenter. I had some very gracious friends who came and let me practice my speal on them. I think it was harder for me because I knew all of them. Sometimes it is much easier to speak in front of a group of people that you don't know. I did have fun, and that is what it is all about. I don't really plan on doing home parties. I prefer the method of "Cyber Hostess". This is where you invite people on-line via email, they can peruse the catalog on-line then email in their order. The best part is that the hostess doesn't have to clean their house or prepare food. She can do it all from the comfort of her own chair and perhaps her PJ's and fuzzy slippers.

"ME"

"ME" that is my new motto- This year is the year of ME. I have a favorite sweatshirt with Tigger on it that reads "It's All About Me" Well this year I've decided it is all about me. No more trying to please everyone. No longer will I worry about offending people or hurting their feelings. Nor will I compromise my wishes and desires, for fear that others will be hurt, disappointed or feel that their opinions don't matter.

This year, I will take care of "ME" within that me is of course my Family, My husband and my two great kids. They are a part of "ME". I wouldn't be who I am today without them. After them come my friends. I will love them, support them and be there for them, but I will again, be "ME"

OK it is late and now I, I mean "ME" is rambling- My question to all of you, is do you take care of your "ME"?
